🇲🇦 Day 1: Marrakesh

🇲🇦 Day 2: Marrakesh

  • Exploration of the main walls, the famous square, the vibrant Medina, and the Koutoubia
  • Bahia Palace guided visit
  • Midday meal at lodging with free afternoon
  • Suggested evening: traditional Moroccan folklore dinner show

🇲🇦 Day 3: Marrakesh, Ait BenHaddou, Ouarzazate, Boumalne Dades

  • Journey from Marrakech across the Atlas Mountains with a mountain village stop
  • Explore Ait Ben Haddou’s UNESCO-protected mud fortress and film location
  • Brief visit to Ouarzazate’s desert kasbah
  • Travel through desert landscapes to Boumalne Dades
  • Evening meal and accommodation at the hotel

Note: Weather closures in the Atlas Mountains may require an alternate route via coastal cities and Meknes

🇲🇦 Day 4: Boumalne Dades, Todra Gorge, Khorbat, Erfoud

  • Travel through the Valley of Kasbahs between mountain ranges with numerous adobe fortresses.
  • Discover striking oases, palm groves, and beautiful adobe villages
  • Visit Todra Gorge, a dramatic 100 m-deep canyon cutting through the Atlas Mountains
  • Free time to enjoy the spectacular landscape (weather permitting)
  • Continue the journey with the desert becoming more prominent
  • Stop at Ksar el Khorbat adobe village/oasis (road conditions permitting)
  • Arrive at Erfoud for lunch at the hotel with time to relax in the desert hotel gardens and pool
  • Optional 4×4 excursion to Merzouga sand dunes to experience sunset in the desert with an included dune dinner

🇲🇦 Day 5: Erfoud, Midelt, Azrou, Bhalil, Fez

  • Early departure from Erfoud crossing the Atlas Mountains through dramatic ravines
  • Journey across a high, cold plateau inhabited by nomadic shepherds
  • Brief stop in Midelt, a town known for apple farming and stone/fossil crafts
  • Continue with the included lunch stop in the Middle Atlas by a lake in a beautiful natural setting
  • Enter a region with abundant forests and frequent winter snow
  • Visit Azrou National Park’s “Cedar House” small museum
  • Observe monkey colonies inhabiting the area
  • Stop at Bhalil, a small, peaceful Berber village with a colorful historic center, where traditional cave dwellings are incorporated into homes
  • Arrive in Fez, Morocco’s spiritual heart, with maze-like streets and souks
  • View of ancient city from monumental Merenid Tombs before hotel check-in
