Itinerary

🇪🇸 🇵🇹 Day 1: Madrid, Ciudad Rodrigo, Porto

Morning

  • 7:30 AM: Departure from Madrid
  • Brief stop: Four Posts Viewpoint (Mirador de los 4 Postes) to photograph Avila’s magnificent walls

Midday

  • 12:00 PM: Ciudad Rodrigo
    • Explore the walled city
    • Visit picturesque streets and cathedral
    • Free time for walking around

Afternoon

  • 1:00 PM: Depart Ciudad Rodrigo, cross into Portugal
  • Lunch stop at service area en route
  • 4:00 PM (Portuguese time): Arrive in Porto
    • 50-minute “Rabelo” boat cruise on Douro River
    • See all 6 bridges, including the iconic Dom Luis I Bridge
    • Free time is recommended for exploring the medieval Ribeira district with its narrow cobblestone streets, historic merchant houses, and cafés

Evening

  • 6:30 PM: Transfer to hotel and accommodation

Note: If passenger numbers between Madrid and Porto are very low, this segment may be done by air, and the Ciudad Rodrigo stop will be canceled.

🇵🇹 🇪🇸 Day 2: Porto, Bom Jesus do Monte, Cambados, Santiago De Compostela

Morning

  • 8:00 AM: Departure from Porto
  • 9:00 AM: Bom Jesus Sanctuary in Braga
    • Ride on the world’s oldest water-powered funicular
    • Recommendation: Walk down the beautiful staircase after visiting the sanctuary to admire the views and gardens

Midday

  • 10:15 AM: Depart Bom Jesus
    • Cross into Galicia, Spain
    • Views of the Galician rias (coastal inlets)
  • 1:00 PM (12:00 PM Portuguese time): Arrive in Cambados
    • Historic seaside town
    • Glass-bottom boat tour of Ría de Arosa
    • Learn about local mollusk production
    • Wine and mussel tasting included on board
    • Free time to explore Cambados and have lunch

Afternoon/Evening

  • 4:00 PM: Depart Cambados
  • 4:45 PM: Arrive in Santiago de Compostela
    • Guided panoramic tour of the city
    • Learn about Santiago’s history as a pilgrimage destination
    • Walk through medieval streets
    • Visit the cathedral

Note: During certain dates (especially Santiago feast day celebrations), groups may be accommodated in a nearby city instead of Santiago itself.

🇪🇸 Day 3: Santiago De Compostela, Lugo, O Cebreiro, León, Madrid

Morning

  • 8:00 AM: Departure from Santiago
    • Travel along the historic Camino de Santiago through picturesque landscapes
  • 9:30 AM: Arrive in Lugo
    • Free time to explore the Roman walls (over 2,000 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage site)
  • 10:30 AM: Depart Lugo
    • Travel toward Castile
    • Stop in O Cebreiro, a traditional stone Galician village showcasing regional way of life

Afternoon

  • 1:45 PM: Arrive in León
    • Time for lunch and exploring this historic city on the Camino de Santiago
    • Highlights include the Gothic cathedral with magnificent stained glass windows
  • 4:15 PM: Depart León
  • 8:30 PM: Arrive in Madrid

Important Notes:

  • The León to Madrid segment may occasionally be done by train, regular coach, or minivan if there are few participants
  • If you have connecting transportation (flight/train), allow extra time, as schedules may be affected by traffic or other delays
  • Check your flight times to determine if you need an additional night in Madrid
  • The guide will provide advice about public transportation for transfers
