🇹🇭🏖️ Patong Beach

Located on the west coast of the Island of Phuket, the Andaman Sea faces Patong Beach. It’s an energetic beach with many nightlife and water activities available. Nightclubs, bars, and entertainment venues are available on Bangla Road, which is very close to Patong Beach. The clubs and bars count with DJ sets, live music, and themed parties. Patong Beach Road and the Jungceylon Shopping Mall are popular places to shop. Among all the water activities available at Patong Beach, the most popular are banana boat rides, parasailing, and jet skiing. Many restaurants are located close to the sea to offer ocean views while eating. The Bangla Boxing Stadium shows Thai martial arts matches. The Simon Cabaret show will entertain you with their costumes and performers. Many establishments are offering Thai massages and other spa services, even on the beach. There are plenty of accommodations from economic to luxury resorts. The cuisine in Patong Beach is international and local, with an emphasis on seafood meals. Two of the many family activities available are mini-golf and patong park. Another nearby beach you can visit is Kalim Beach, which is less crowded but has many street food options and beautiful sunsets.

🇹🇭🏖️ Big Buddha

The Great Buddha of Phuket is at the top of Nakkerd Hill, 148 feet (45 meters) high. Construction started in 2004 and was completed in 2018. The materials used were concrete and white Burmese marble. The statue symbolizes unity and peace and is positioned toward sunrise. You can enjoy panoramic views of Karon Beach, Kata Beach, and Chalong Bay, as well as spectacular sunsets. The Great Buddha area is surrounded by bells and statues of different sizes. Another close viewpoint to this area is the Mak Prok Viewpoint. It is recommended to visit the Great Buddha with modest clothes to respect the religious beliefs of the place, and also visitors can contribute with donations used to maintain the place. Major Buddhist festivals happened throughout the year. Vesak Day is a big celebration that happens annually during the full moon of May in honor of the death of Buddha.

🇹🇭🏖️ Old Phuket Town

An historic district was influenced by European colonial architecture of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Sino-Portuguese architecture is popular in the area, with colorful buildings and old shophouses. The Phuket Thai Hua Museum was a Chinese-language school that now is a museum exhibiting Phuket’s Chinese heritage. The Jui Tui Shrine is a famous Chinese temple that you can visit. The Thalang Road in Old Phuket Town has many cafes, art galleries, and shops, and the Sunday Walking Street Market is also present weekly. The town offers international and local cuisine. The Phuket Old Town Festival is an annual event with many performances, parades, and street markets. The Soi Romanee is a narrow street with beautiful architecture.

🇹🇭🏖️ Kata Beach

It’s a long stretch of beach with clear turquoise waters suitable for swimming and surfing. It has two areas: the Kata Yai (South) and the Kata Noi (North), with the Kata Yai being the most preferred for surfing. The Karon Viewpoint is located close to Kata Beach. There are diverse resorts, hotels, bars, pubs, cultural shows, and restaurants with ocean views. Visitors can find souvenirs, handicrafts, clothing, and more in the Kata Night Market. Diving excursions, diving schools, surfing schools, and snorkeling tours are available.

🇹🇭🏖️ Karon Viewpoint (Three Beaches Hill)

A popular scenic viewpoint in Phuket, Karon Viewpoint is located between three main beaches: Kata Noi, Kata Yai, and Karon Beach. Best for nature lovers, the sunset at Karon Viewpoint offers changing colors. It is easily accessible by car or motorbike through the road connecting Nai Harn Beach and Kata Noi Beach. Many souvenir stalls selling refreshments, souvenirs, and local crafts are around the area to help you remember this iconic place on Phuket Island. The Karon Windmill can be seen from this viewpoint, which makes it a symbolic landmark of this viewpoint. The nearby temples are Wat Karon and Wat Kata.

🇹🇭🏖️ Phi Phi Islands

In Phi Phi Islands, you will find many beautiful beaches, seafood, and water activities. 

Loh Lana Bay is located near Tonsai Village and is one of the less crowded beaches on the island. You can access the bay by boat or by taking a short walk from Tonsai Village.

Nui Beach is a private beach managed by Nui Bay Member Club, where you can practice rock climbing, beach volleyball, snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. The Camel Rocks are located in front of this beach.

Phak Nam Bay is a long beach that is better accessible by taxi boat, but it can also be visited by crossing a rough hiking trail. Renting kayaks is a great option for admiring its beautiful coast.

The three most popular viewpoints are called 1, 2, and 3 Phi Phi Viewpoints, respectively; they are close to each other, so it is easy to walk to each viewpoint to get spectacular photos of the island. 

Ton Sai Beach is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and rock climbing. You will have to take a boat to get to this location.

Monkey Beach has a colony of monkeys surrounded by limestone cliffs and abundant vegetation. It is good for snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. Monkey Bay is another location similar to Monkey Beach, where you will find a colony of monkeys. If interacting with the monkeys in Monkey Beach and Monkey Bay, you have to be cautious about possible illnesses you might get due to monkey bites or scratches.

Wang Long Bay is an ideal place for pet owners that would like to enjoy the beach with their pets. You have to take a taxi boat to access Wang Long Bay. Besides the swimming options in this bay, you can also enjoy diving and snorkeling.

Snake Cave & Bell Chamber Cave are two caves located around 10 minutes away from the Tonsai Village in the Phi Phi Islands. In the Snake Cave, you will find walls full of sea clams adhered to it, fish using the cave as shelter, and a transition of saltwater to freshwater. The water at the end of the cave will reach 6 meters in depth. 

The Bell Chamber Cave is located literally next to the Snake Cave. Inside, you will find the bell chamber with a domed ceiling with circular walls. 

Some nearby islands that can be visited from Phi Phi Islands are Mosquito Island, Bamboo Island, and Ko Phi Phi Lee. Mosquito Island is famous for the huge number of mosquitos despite the pristine beaches you can enjoy there. The Bamboo Island has a heart-shaped formation. The Ko Phi Phi Lee is a less habited island with many beach attractions like Maya Bay, Malong Bay, Viking Cave, and Pi Leh Bay.

🇹🇭🏖️ Wat Chalong - Wat Chaiyathararam

Wat Chalong is a temple from the 19th century with the official name of Wat Chaiyathararam. It’s the most popular and largest temple on Phuket Island. The temple founders were two monks called Luang Pho Cham and Luang Pho Chuang. A recent building called Wat Chalong Chedi offers architecture showing paintings on the walls and ceilings of the life of Buddha as well as many golden statues. You can go to the top-floor terrace for a panoramic view of the temple. Inside the temple, you will have to leave your shoes outside if you want to enter, and women have to cover their shoulders and wear pants or skits that cover their knees to show respect to the Buddhist temple. The entrance and parking is free.

🇹🇭🏖️ Bangla Road

What is Bangla Road famous for? The red light area in Phuket, famous for its 400-meter road with pedestrian access close to Patong Beach and plenty of open-air and open-fronted bars, shops, and restaurants, is perfect for entertainment. Bangla Road is the most popular tourist street in Phuket. What to expect on Bangla Road? A road full of neon lights and loud music along the busy streets. There are many themed parties and dance shows.

🇹🇭🏖️ Promthep Cape

It’s a famous sunset viewpoint over the Andaman Sea. The things to do in the Promthep Cape in the Mueang Phuket District include shopping, restaurants, and walking paths surrounded by rocky cliffs. Traditional ceremonies and offerings are done in the Promthep Cape, giving the place cultural significance. You will observe the Lighthouse Cum Nautical Museum. The Promthep Shrine is at the top of Cape Promthep, and it is full of elephant statues of many sizes. It’s recommended to wear sneakers or hiking shoes.

🇹🇭🏖️ Tiger Kingdom

This is a facility to observe and interact with many species of wild animals. 🇹🇭🏖️ Surin Beach

Located on the west coast of Phuket, the picturesque beach is close to shopping centers for souvenirs, clothing, and handicrafts. It’s also close to the Phuket FantaSea theme park, which offers many shows, dining, and other entertainment.

Is Surin Beach clean? Its turquoise waters and clean white sand make it cleaner and less crowded than Patong Beach. Surin Beach is suitable for swimming, especially from November to April. You can also do beach sports and sunbathing in Surin Beach.

🇹🇭🏖️ Phuket FantaSea

Is the FantaSea show worth it in Phuket? This theme park focuses on Thai culture and mythology, particularly the main show called “Fantasy of a Kingdom,” which involves Thai storytelling, dances, and music. The park is decorated with Thai architecture and statues and also has dining and shop areas. The Elephant Palace is located in the Phuket FantaSea, where visitors can interact with or just observe the elephants. Thai festivals and holidays are commonly celebrated inside the park to promote Thai culture.

Phang-nga

A province located in southern Thailand, next to Phuket Island. People who visit Phuket Island can travel to Phang-nga, too, for many reasons: it is close to Bangkok, and the province is characterized by limestone formations, including cliffs and caves. The Phang Nga Bay offers stunning views of limestone cliffs, rock formations, mangrove forests, many small islands, and coral reefs. Why is Phang Nga Bay famous? The bay was the setting for the 1974 movie “The Man with the Golden Gun,” also known as the “James Bond Island”. The Similan Islands are also a major attraction in Phang-nga, providing the perfect environment for snorkeling and diving. Phang-nga also has the Kao Sok National Park, the Suwan Khuha Cave Temple, Sea Gypsy communities also known as Chao Leh, the Koh Yao Islands, famous for being the most relaxed Thai islands, and the Tsunami Memorial Park dedicated to the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004.
