Day 01: 🇪🇸Madrid, 🇪🇸Mérida, 🇵🇹Évora
Journey: Madrid to Lisbon via Mérida and Évora
Morning:
Depart Madrid (exact time may vary based on hotel pickups).
Travel through Castilla and Extremadura regions.
Midday:
Arrive in Mérida, Extremadura’s capital.
Visit the Roman Theatre of Mérida and the Amphitheatre complex (entry included). Explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, which is notable for its preservation and historical significance.
Free time to enjoy the lively pedestrian historic center and lunch.
Afternoon:
Leave Mérida. Scenic drive through expansive pastures into Portugal’s Alentejo region.
Portuguese time: Reach Évora, Alentejo’s capital.
Discover this ancient UNESCO World Heritage city.
Wander the historic center, admiring white-washed streets, the cathedral, and old churches.
Optional: Visit the Chapel of Bones.

For small groups, the Madrid to Mérida way may use public transportation (train or regular bus service).

Free time to explore independently
Note: During the winter months (November to April), the Porto tour may be scheduled for the afternoon instead of the morning.
Explore the historic Braga Cathedral, then head to Bom Jesus Sanctuary (Bon Jesus do Monte).
Experience a ride on the world’s oldest water-powered funicular, the Bom Jesus do Monte Funicular.
Consider a leisurely walk down the ornate staircase after your visit.
Depart Bom Jesus
Arrive in Guimarães, Portugal’s first capital.
Free time to discover the city, including the notable Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy (Palace Duques de Bragança).
Lunch break.
Exit Guimarães. Travel through picturesque vineyard-covered landscapes into the Douro Valley, passing Sabrosa, the birthplace of explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
Enter Pinhão. Marvel at the tile-adorned train station and enjoy a brief Douro River cruise (approximately one hour).
Note: From November to March, the cruise is replaced by a scenic drive with stops at Douro viewpoints.
Leave Pinhão
Reach Coimbra. Hotel check-in with dinner provided.
Begin with breakfast, then explore Coimbra’s historic center. As Portugal’s third-largest city and home to one of the world’s oldest universities, Coimbra offers a rich tapestry of academic heritage, charming streets, and vibrant student life.
Midday:
Depart Coimbra
Visit Batalha Monastery, a crucial landmark in Portuguese history. Your ticket grants access to this medieval royal mausoleum. Admire its impressive architecture, explore the interior, or browse nearby shops.
Afternoon:
Leave Batalha
Arrive in Nazaré, a picturesque fishing town.
Take the Nazaré Funicular/Ascensor da Nazaré (included) to the clifftop old town for panoramic ocean views. Enjoy lunch and leisure time.
Exit Nazaré
Reach Óbidos, an enchanting walled town known for its medieval castle, flower-adorned streets, and lively commerce.

Depart Óbidos
Arrive in Lisbon
Important: Due to ongoing renovations, the Nazaré elevator is temporarily out of service. Coach transportation to the old town will be provided as an alternative.
🇵🇹Day 06: Lisbon
Lisbon Panoramic Tour
Morning: Embark on a comprehensive 2-hour guided tour of Lisbon, often called the City of Seven Hills. Discover the capital’s unique charm, characterized by its winding alleys, decorative tiles, nostalgic “Saudade” atmosphere, and distinctive Atlantic light.

Eduardo VII Park
Baixa de Lisboa (Baixa Pombalina) neighborhood, featuring Marquês de Pombal Square (Praça Marquês de Pombal) and Rossio Square (Praça Dom Pedro IV).

Iconic monuments: Monument to the Discoveries, Belém Tower, and the Jerónimos Monastery.
