Itinerary

🇪🇸 🇵🇹 Day 1: Madrid, Ciudad Rodrigo, Porto

Places:

  • Madrid (starting point)
  • Avila (photo stop at “mirador de los 4 postes” viewpoint)
  • Ciudad Rodrigo (short visit)
  • Porto (final destination)

Activities:

  • Photo opportunity of Avila’s magnificent walls
  • Walking tour through Ciudad Rodrigo’s walled city, picturesque streets, and cathedral
  • Traditional Portuguese “rabelo” boat cruise (50 min) on the Douro River
  • Free time in Porto’s Ribeira medieval district

Notes:

  • Cross from Spain into Portugal
  • See Porto’s six bridges during a cruise, including the iconic Dom Luis iron bridge.
  • Recommended exploration of the Ribeira district with narrow streets and old merchant houses
  • If passenger numbers are very low, the Madrid-Porto segment may be done by plane, canceling the Ciudad Rodrigo stop.

🇵🇹 Day 2: Porto, Coimbra, Batalha, Nazaré, Óbidos, Lisbon

Places:

  • Porto (starting point)
  • Coimbra
  • Batalha Monastery
  • Nazaré
  • Óbidos
  • Lisbon (final destination)

Activities:

  • Visit Coimbra, Portugal’s third largest city, with its ancient university and charming steep streets
  • Explore Batalha Monastery, an impressive medieval building, and the tomb of kings
  • Take the “elevator” in Nazaré to reach the old town with spectacular views of the sea and beach
  • Discover Óbidos, a charming village enclosed by medieval walls with a castle and flower-filled streets

Notes:

  • Batalha Monastery can be viewed from the inside, or you can admire its impressive façade and explore the surrounding commercial streets
  • Nazaré is a fishing town located on top of a cliff
  • Time allocated for lunch and rest in Nazaré
  • Óbidos features both historical architecture and active commercial areas

🇵🇹 Day 3: Lisbon

Places:

  • Lisbon (guided city tour)
    • Eduardo VII Park
    • Baixa Pombalina district
    • Rossio Square with views of St. George’s Castle
    • Alfama district
    • Estrela district and Basilica
    • Discoveries Monument
    • Belém Tower
    • Jerónimos Monastery
    • Restauradores Square

Activities:

  • Morning guided city tour (approximately 2 hours)
  • Free afternoon to explore the city independently
  • Optional visit to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril (offered by guide)

Notes:

  • Lisbon is known as the “city of seven hills”
  • Recommendation to take the Elevador Da Gloria up to Barrio Alto
  • Suggested visit to São Pedro viewpoint for beautiful views over Lisbon
  • Restauradores Square area has numerous restaurants and cafes
  • Return to the hotel from Restauradores Square
